Not only is he the star of the "Iron Man" and "Sherlock hex dvd Holmes" franchises but he's also been in recent comedy hits like "Tropic Thunder" and now "Due Date." Also hitting stores this week will be limited release "Get Low," a screwball comedy starring Bill Murray and Robert Duvall. Despite a prominent cast, "Get Low" hardly got hogan's heroes dvd a theatrical release and barely hit 500 total venues at its widest point, which will make it a difficult sell on DVD. "Get Low" tells the story of an eccentric southerner (Duvall) who breaks a four decade reclusive streak to throw himself a funeral for himself.
(RTTNews) - Though not many other new titles house md dvd are hitting DVD this week, "Batman" lovers might want to check out the special anniversary Blu-ray edition of "Memento," the movie that gave Christopher Nolan a reputation as a prominent up-and-coming director. The psychological thriller about a revenge-seeking man with short-term memory loss made a splash on the indie circuit and even was a quiet commercial success. "Memento" paved the way for Nolan to take the reins of the "Batman" franchise, which catapulted him to the top of the A-list and made him one of the most in-demand directors in movies. While "Memento" launched the career of Nolan, comedy "48 Hours" did the same thing for funny man Eddie Murphy. Long before recent bombs like "Norbit," "Meet Dave" and "The Adventures of Pluto Nash," Murphy was one of the most popular actors in Hollywood, and it all started Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended with 1982 release "48 Hours." In Murphy's first movie role, "48 Hours" became one of the biggest hits of the year, and Murphy was soon one of the most profitable actors in Hollywood.
Other releases this week include a Blu-ray set of the Stieg Larsson trilogy, the popular Swedish series that prompted an American remake. The first in the series, "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," was also a very popular book in the U.S. and the American film version is already being filmed by director David Fincher ("The Social Network," "Fight Club"). The latest seasons of Showtime's popular comedies "Weeds" and "Nurse Jackie" will also be hitting DVD for the first time this week.
Next week, director Danny Boyle's acclaimed survival film "127 Hours" is among the biggest releases hitting the home market followed by action release "Faster," starring The Rock and Billy Bob Thornton. Romantic comedy "Love and Other Drugs" is also getting released next week following a mediocre box DVD office run last year. Fans of classically animated Disney films may also be interested in a Blu-ray release of the classic "Bambi."
